Christmas Care Packages
Once again Paige Teakell and the ladies from The All American Pinups are on a mission. This years Christmas goal was to raise $5000 for the postage to send 500 care packages. 250 of those were slotted to go to those deployed from her new post at Ft. Hood. However, with the lack of donations this year, the new goal is $2500 to send out at least 250 packages. Although this is a year round endeavor for them, the holiday projects seem to be really special.

There are multiple ways of supporting this effort. Here is a note from Miss Paige ...

"You Have 3 Options... You Can Purchase A Photo For Yourself Or You Can Purchase One To Be Sent To A Service Member. There Is Also A Donation Button Where You Can Make A Donation Via PayPal. If You Would Rather Send Items In To Be Added To The Care Packages, We Welcome That Too. 250 Packages Will Need Lotsa Filling... Just Write To Me For An Address And The Theme For The Christmas Packages. Remember The Troops Deserve The Very Best, Especially On Christmas".

Much Love & Respect

I have more than one family member that has received a package from these wonderful young ladies. I took the picture below after Tony returned from Baghdad with a shirt he received in one of their packages.

HERE is the link to a news interview Miss Paige did with KSWO -TV in Lawton OK, before moving to TX. Sorry the video is no longer available, I rather enjoyed it enough to post it on here back in February.

The simplest and easiest thing to do, is to just send them a donation through PayPal. Let them use their experienced disgression and resources, to send what they have found to both be needed and enjoyed by our best and bravest ...

Burn Notice in Iraq
Workin' my way through the 'reader' this morning and came across a post by BLACKFIVE that caught my eye. The title was "ONE MORE BURN NOTICE PHOTO WITH SOMEONE YOU SHOULD KNOW" and being a fan of Burn Notice just had to check it out. WOW, was I ever surprised to see a picture of Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell holding a flag in the background, while Lt. Col. Mark Bieger is presumably swearing in Spc. Peter Jank during a reenlistment ceremony. For those who don't remember LTC Bieger THIS should jog your memory.

While meandering down memory lane I couldn't help myself from reading quite a few of Michael Yon's post's or 'dispatches', as I had been following them from the beginning up to around 2007. After moving back to Ohio after the Katrina adventure, there were 9 months of his dispatches to catch up on. If you have time to read his 31AUG2005 post 'Gates of Fire' you are in for a treat ... but I digress ...

BLACKFIVE has pictures of Jeff and Bruce on the firing range in Iraq while on what is presumably a USO tour.

Cool ...

Welcoming GUNPAL

Since PayPal wouldn't support our 2nd Amendment by allowing their services for online transactions, another source was needed. A more instantaneous way of paying for purchases rather than using an escrow service such as Tradiator. Having been hearing rumors of this for quite some time, that day has finally arrived. GUNPAL, founded in 2004 has finally been launched. While it doesn't have any financing/credit option, you can transfer funds to your personal online account. I hope to be giving it a whirl here real soon.

Quiz Time
Ya ... I totally blew the question about trigger locks.

Maybe it's the obtrusiveness of having them shoved down my throat that has me kinda blocking them from my mind. At least the cable type can actually be used for something ... if you need to, say, lock up your bicycle, for example. It was the question about requiring background checks for 'private sales' that really got me. That's just crazy ... Of course your mileage may vary, but I scored 80% . Hopefully you will do better ;-)
